Planning the Evaluation

Within my evaluation there will be a question which asks "What have you learned from your audience feedback?" Subsequently in order to answer this we decided that we should interview various members which match the target audience (teenagers that are both male and female). We will film these interviews and take their answers as a reflective of how successful the end product we made is. Then text will be made alongside the interview which can indicate whether we are satisfied by the audience feedback or whether we are unhappy with it. In order to film these inerviews we decided that we will split the responsibility of each question between us. I will be asking questions which reflect the genre and conventions of the video whilst Katie will be asking about the actual music video and Sean will ask questions which reflect the print products. This will be filmed tomorrow during periods 3 and 5. However I will not be available to attend since I will have a lesson during this time. However I can attend during 5th period so I will be asking the questions during the people interviewed during 5th period.

Digi Pack

Here is the final version of the digi pack we created for our album "TWEEDA". When doing this we decided that it would be best to make a digi pack which reflects the whole album, in order to this it made complete sense to make each individual page related to each track listed in the album. By doing this they set a tone of what the song is about and give each track it's own individuality about it as opposed to just making it entirely about one or two songs or listing the production that went into making the album. For consistency once again  we used the same design as featured on the front and back cover of our album, except for each song we have subverted the colours used in it in order to reflect the mood of the song. Moreover we have placed an image into the middle of the picture that reflects what the song is actually about (or at least, has themes of). We also placed text on the bottom left hand corner which stated the song title and a short lyric which would be taken from the song itself. For "All The Small Things" we changed the positioning of the text because this would be the main single from the album, therefore it could be seen as a more important or substantial track in regards to all the other tracks.

For "All The Small Things" we used a cartoon image of alcohol bottles as the image placed in the centre. We used this because (as seen in the video) alcohol and drugs is a prominent theme, since the image had alcohol depicted in a yellow colour theme we decided to in cooperate this into the spherical design. "A Tsunami is For Life" depicts only blue and white, this is in order to fit in with the idea of a wave since waves and the colours of the ocean are generally just blue and white, the image of the wave is obviously linked purely towards the reflection of the song title. "Antagonism doesn't give a s**t" is more red imagery. I feel the idea we had in our heads was that this song was a more emotionally angry song since there is swearing in the song title and mentions the idea of antagonism presenting a more villainous nature. The villainous nature of the word "antagonism" indicated to us that we should have had an image in the centre that was based on the idea of anarchism because this is generally seen as a political idea that villains in films such as "xXx" starring Vin Diesel have as there evil plot. Subsequently we chose the anarchy symbol as the main symbol to be used within the centre of the spherical shape. The image used in "Smile Like You Mean It" is a very awkward shape, this is because I think the way this song would have been sung would be as though the singer is trying to force someone to smile, the idea of forcing someone links to it being another song which is very angry and emotional, therefore the awkward shape of a person smiling is an attempt to reflect this idea of someone smiling but not wanting to.

"The Other Side of Spiritualism" uses the image of Yin Yang, this is because the theme of the song would be that spiritualism (or religion) has both a very positive side and a very dark, negative side. This is perfectly reflected by the Yin Yang symbol. Moreover the colour scheme uses two main colours, that of white and red in the spherical shape, the reason black wasn't used (to conform to the Yin Yang symbol) is that aesthetically this choice didn't work so we opted to use red which generally has the same negative and evil iconography which the colour black tends to feature. "Day of Lust" is a song which is mainly oriented around the themes of sex, in order to reflect this we simply crossed the images of the male sex symbol and female sex symbol in order to create one image on it's own. We used the colours of pink and red namely to reflect the idea of passionate sex, of which the iconography generally links to these colours. "Realism Has Got You By The Balls" is a more comedic song (in our minds at least) which is why a nutcracker is used in the middle in order to reflect this. More generic colours are used here because no direct link can be made in terms of colours for this particular song.

"You stole my laser" is a track which features a laser gun with the colours of green and yellow mainly circling around it. This is because lasers, in films at least, are often used with the colours of green and yellow and red, Star Wars and Star Trek being main influences. Therefore to conform to this we used those specific colours. "Fist Full of Predictions" uses a needle with drugs being pushed out with an array of colours all placed in a puddle below. I feel this song would be directed towards a friend of the singer and that the friend was a drug addict, hence the idea of drugs being a prediction in the sense that they would always go back to them. Using different colours in the puddle creates artistic integrity and emphasizes the idea that drugs may be perceived to offer one thing, but in actual fact they offer the user something else which is far darker and more grim.

"The future of Mr. Earl" and "psychedelic pug" are both songs which I consider, for lack of a better term, psychedelic. By just hearing the names of the songs they don't really make much sense and the images are very strange along with the colour choice. However this helps link towards the idea of it being psychedelic and not making much sense which links to the Beatles song "I am The Walrus" since this makes no sense whatsoever but can still reflect certain moods and tones when listened to. The final image is the second to back page of the digi pack. This is included purely to conform to other digi pack pages and gives thanks and credits to all the people involved in making the album, again the same text is used for consistency, as well as the spherical image from the front cover of the album, the serial number is the exact same as is on the spine of the album which all helps link the images to the album cover. The EMI logo is there in order to give them a credit as publishers for the album. We wanted to keep this page simple because it is simply made in order to indicate the credits of the album and is made only to be informative, therefore there is no real reason to give any kind of artistic integrity towards it.

Overall I am very happy with this digi pack we have created, in particular my favourite image would have to be either "Fist Full of Predictions", "Day of Lust" or "Antagonism Doesn't Give a S**t" because I feel these are the ones that look the most aesthetically pleasing. If I were to have any gripes with the images then I would say that perhaps the "Smile Like You Mean It" image could have been made a bit more clearer since to some eyes it could look slightly awkward and the image for "A Tsunami is For Life" seems very large in comparison to the size of the other images, plus it is the only image to feature basically one colour in the spherical shape (the white aspects are only seen in the top left and right of the image) which makes it stand out as perhaps not as the most attractive image. However these are only minor gripes and I do not hate or even dislike any of these images as I feel they all serve the main purpose they were in the first place and give each track within our album it's own individuality to it. Subsequently, I feel as though the positives vastly outweigh any negatives that I could ever think of.

Album Spine

Here is an image of the spine of the album CD. This will be placed on the side of the album in order for customers in local stores to be able to see that the album is made by TWEEDA (since there is no texts on the actual front cover that would signify the artists name). We kept the exact same font which is featured on the posters for the album in order to maintain consistency. Moreover the serial number (featured in the digi pack also) is featured on the spine as this is how it would appear in stores across the country. The design from the front cover also features on the spine, this is done to again maintain consistency as well as aesthetic merit.

Final Album Back Cover

Here is the final back cover for our album "TWEEDA". It is virtually exactly the same as the last image of the back cover I posted, however minor adjustments have been made on the text for aesthetic reasoning. Namely the word "of" on the track "The Future of Mr Earl" has changed from having a capital "o" to now a low standing "o". This was done purely because it simply looked more aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
